I think that Chrsitina could very well be a D or DD cup – i’m 5’8″, 156lbs, dress size 12-14 (UK sizes) and my bust is 36 – 38 inches D, DD or E cup depending on the bra manufacturer, style, material etc. (I’m also a red head who has been denying her blonde heritage since she was 13!!)
It’s a good point that different styles of bra can also contribute to a bigger looking bust – gotta love the ‘balcony’ or ‘plunge’ styles for that!
Regardless of what her measurements are, Christina Hendricks is an absolute fox – i’ve loved her since seeing her on Firefly. Not only is she a beautiful, curvaceous woman, she is a talented actress – which should be highlighted more often than her assets – i agree with Curvy Babe, a great poster girl
Well she may be 39 at the fullest part of her bust, but that doesn’t mean her band size is a 39. There is no 39D bra. It just doesn’t exist – bras are even numbered. So guys, listen up, because you are the ones who screw this up- the numbers in the bra size are the inches around a girls ribs, UNDER her boobs. So a girl can have huge boobs and wear a 32 or 34 bra, it’s just a DD or higher cup. Cup size is how big her boobs are. Christina Hendricks is probably an F or a G, with a really small ribcage (have you seen her waist?).
I would bet 32 or 34 F or G.
I have the same measurments as Christina and I wear a UK 30G.
Yep, I’m 38-28-38, so very similar measurements to CH, and I wear a 28J bra (or more commonly a 30G with two inches removed from the band), so I would guess she wears something in the 30 or 32 F to J range. A lot of promotional photos seem to have her squished into ill-fitting bras, probably 38DDs and such (the Esquire article in particular!), but I really hope that in her personal life she’s wearing well-fitting bras. When I finally started wearing my correct size, it really changed my entire body image.

First, there’s no such thing as a 39DD Like the other poster said, the numbers are always even and represent the measurement of the ribs UNDER the bust.
In reference to the link in your post, if her bust measures 39, then her band size is certainly NOT 39. That would make her a AA cup. Way to go.
Second off, a DD ALWAYS means that there is a 5in difference from the band to the bust measurement. The full bust measurement tells you nothing without the size of the ribs.
I would definitely say she’s somewhere in the neighborhood of a 32 or 34, just because she’s obviously not petite. But a DD she is not! Puhleeeease. I’m a 28FF, which is equivalent to a 34DD. (I measure 35.5, 23, 34 and am 95lbs) My chest would look FLAT next to hers! She is definitely sitting upwards of a FF, maybe G or GG (UK sizing).

There’s no way she could only be a 38DD & 154 lbs. . I’m a 38G and size 12 and a firm 188 lbs @ 5’7…and Christina is far larger than me. I’d guess at least a 40H and minimum size 16/18. As for her weight, that’s nobody’s business…a girl’s entitled to a few secrets. Rock on Christina, you’re gorgeous at any size.
It’s great to see that a woman doesn’t need to be waifish to be at the top of her game in the world of acting.
I’m 5’6” (36-28-32) 34DD and 145lbs. . . First of all, as others have said, the bra size is a bit off because the measurements for a dress do not use bra size. It measures bust, waist, and hips. There is not a bra size 39. . . She’s more likely a 38E or something around there. Her boobs are HUGE compared to mine so I know her cup size has to be much bigger than mine. Her bust measurement goes from the highest point of the bust around, while bra size is determined by right underneath the breast.
None-the-less, I am seriously jealous of her hips. I wish my hips were so god-sent!

For the record women like this give me hope for hollywood and society in general. its not just her curves that make christina hendricks absolutely gorgeous its also the fact that she is comfortable with herself that makes her sexy. all women are beautiful to me, but the ones that carry themselves with that sense of self confidence are the ones that draw me in. a word to all women: love yourself first and the rest of us will line up and beg for the opportunity

Wow! I just love CH and I wish there were a lot more women like her in Hollywood. I’m a usual woman with my insecurities, despite of how good I feel about myself most of the time. It’s quite refreshing to hear there are curvy women out there like me who can be deemed to have the body of the year. Being a 40-32-42, tells me I can look as gorgeous as her with the right clothes on me
I absolutely love Christina Hendricks. I fell head over heels just from the promos 4 Mad Men, seeing her on the Red carpet & I’ve never seen a single episode. I’ll reconfirm what the other women have said that the author seems to have confusion on the difference between measurements and bra size. 2 different things. Even if you take the different sizing from different countries into consideration, it’s still going to be even sizes, with the exception of European and Japan sizes that we will discuss in a minute. Based on USA (and somewhat UK) measurements, it seems possible that she may at times have rib cage measurement of 39, but I find it very hard to believe that her actual breast are only a mere 5inch total circumference difference than her rib cage. Her boobs are def bigger than mine and mine are more than the 5 inch mark. Given the odd 39 measurement, then you can even say 6 inches. The measurement of 39 ribcage and 7inch (F cup with odd number measurement), may be possible, but certainly hard to ascertain by measuring a dress.
Also, I want to clear up about odd sizes – there are some odd sizes in places like I mentioned before, but that can not be what they are talking about here as those numbers end in 5 or 0, and are a MUCH higher number since they use the metric system. So I will give you a sample of my various country sizes (depending on the manufacturer) as a mean of reference. I’m 5’3.5, 115lb.
In US and UK size: 30F – 32DD
Australia/New Zealand: around a 10DD
Europe/Japan 65H-70F
Belgium/Spain/France/Portugal: 80H-85F
(P.S. I have large breasts on a very small frame, thus I often have to order bras from other countries to get what I want.)

This woman is gorgeous and its great to see a healthy looking curvy actress is popular these days!! I’m 5’8″ size 6 and my bra size is 34DDD/36DD…I concur with the others who say she is not a 39DD. First of all, no such thing as a 39DD perhaps if anything the blogger meant to say 38DD but she looks more like a 36DDD or G cup to me!
She doesn’t always look “plus sized” either it is clear she isnt skinny but she doesnt look heavy set she looks voluptuous if anything. I would guess she is a size 8 or 10 tops because she has a small waistline. Regardless of her size or weight, she looks great and people need to embrace this image in Hollywood more as it is reminiscent of the Jane Russell, Sophia Loren’s and Marilyn Monroes. Women do not look as good these days so its great to see imo.

Very curvy for a teen, There is no way shes a FF. Im only 35F (I have a skinny waist). Unless she was a 28FF shed have to be around a 36 or 34 F.
I own a vast collection of both UK bras and US bras (UK bras are FAR superior) , am very well endowed myself, have an hourglass figure so I know bust measurements. Christina is most likely a wearing between a 36FF at the SMALLEST (F would be too small) , 34 G or 36G or GG. In US terms that is about a DDD.
Not that a DD in today’s terms is closer to a C cup and D cup now is also fairly small. Old school sizing usually had DD as the biggest in the states and DDD was the size that you were wearing before you were asking for custom made bras. Her ribcage is really tiny so I’m think possibly a 32H or even 34H in UK sizing. Whatever the case, she is the most bountiful and beautiful woman in Hollywood along with Toccaro Jones. AND she is a FANTASTIC ACTRESS!!

I think she has to be at least a G imo-my measurements are 39-27-39 and im 34E at the mo but her bust looks way bigger than mine(and thats saying something) ,shes such a good role model-making me hate my figure a lot less-still find it impossible to get clothes that fit and are flattering though!
hey i was just reading about her bra measurements and there is no way she can be a 39 D or DD, i luckily share a very very similar figure to this woman except i have a slightly smaller looking cup size and i am a 34FF, also i have a close friend who is of a large dress size and even she isn’t a 39 measure. from also working in an lingerie shop i would hazzard a guess this lady is a 34-36F or slightly larger in cup size

She’s so big she looks like a mobile water-bed, and while her bazongers are huge, she’s packing a bit too much in the rear compartments. She is too large in the midriff to be a true beauty, and if she approached a man at a party he might suffer tank fright! The pleasant surprise is she is quite accomplished in her role in Mad Men.

Just a heads up, they’re referring to a DD in North American sizes, which is MUCH larger than UK sizing. With Canadian/American lingerie companies, I am typically a B, but with European companies I wear a D.
Alot of misinformation here! My lovely wife has very similar measurements, I was raised appreciating the “zaftig” side for sure. She appears to be a 36F or 38E /38DD at the minimum but more likely a 38DDD -38FF – 38G (ie. a 6-7 inch bust permium if you will). Alas, there are too few of the rubenesque types on today’s tube! – Paul in North Georgia
I’m 5’5″, 161lbs. and ladies and gents, I am a 36ddd — measured by the ladies at Intimacy (Atlanta and New York), Macy’s, Victoria’s Secret (they don’t sell ddd bras mind you) and Fredericks of Hollywood (where I also wear a 36F). She looks like a 34dd or even ddd, but she is not 38″ across the ribcage, her waist is way to small for that. She could be that bra size and have a small waist, but because of her height, I think she may way more than 150lbs. She’s probably 160-something, and may be a 10/12, my opinion, US sizes. I think its great what she’s doing for white women, because African-American’s actually celebrate the fuller figure. Hell, I wish I had her hips, because my chest is soo big, people say I have a white girl body.
No way she is 154 lbs…I am around 150 to 154 (when I am stuffed!) and only 5″3 and I am way smaller than her. Not skinny, and not obese, slightly overweight for my height but not terribly, but definitely smaller than her but in stature and hips/bust. That being said, I’d trade mine up for hers! SHE”S SOOO SEXY!

Bear in mind that measurements taken from a 1960s style outfit are not necessarily a good indicator of a natural size. I would guess that they use the girdles and control top panties to emulate the silhouette for that era. She could easily be a 34-DDD+ with that observation in mind. And certain cuts and bras can make an already large set of breasts look MUCH bigger than they actually are.

Oh and as to her weight. She could easily be 154 lbs at 5’8″. Her bone structure isn’t particularly large so her lean body weight is naturally lower. Her limbs (arms specifically) have a very soft look to them meaning that she either has a fair bit of body fat, or lower muscle mass. And if she has naturally wide hips, combined with a predilection to carry excess weight on her hips and thighs (which is common in most women) that 154 is not an unreasonable number. It’s just a more complex number than you might think.
I think whatever her size…she’s makes me feel proud for large breasted/full hip women…I’m in the same category..thanks Christina Hendricks
idk if her boobs are that small. i mean my boobs are smaller than that and i’m a 32 G, but this could all depend on the number size instead of the cup size. idk

I used to be a bra-specialist, and due to her small waist (assuming 30″ quoted is correct), her ribcage is likely no larger than 34 or 36 (I say 36 only because her waist is obviously much smaller than the top part of her ribs). I would guess she is at MINIMUM a UK G/GG, which would translate to a US I (not that anyone makes a 34I outside of special-order).
Something to keep in mind though, is that all breasts are not the same shape…my ribcage(not waist) is 28.5″, and my bust measures 40″ and I wear a 34G(UK).
And I agree with the other poster…UK bras are just better! =)
But really, who CARES what her bra size is, as long as she keeps gracing us with her incredible, lovely visage?!?! With great breasts, comes great responsibilities!
Clarification: 36″ after the additional 5 inches for the band…so a 32″ measurement, and a bra size of 34/36 G/GG!
I’m 5’7″ , weigh 142, wear a 32 D, 28″ waist, and 36″ hip. There’s no way she weighs 154. At one point I was 160lbs, 34D, 30, 38, and quite a bit smaller than her all around. She’s got to be in the high 170′s. And knowing the size my well endowed sister in law wears, she has to be a F cup. I picture her measurements being: 5’8″, 34F, 32, 42, or a size 12. She is quite hourglass. She also looks larger now than she did on the show “Firefly”.
Also, bra band sizes are deceptive. A 34 doesn’t mean a rib cage of 34. The rib cage is measured, then add four. So if the rib measurement is 31″, add 4: 31+4=35: band size is 36. This is how most women are fitted. I personally don’t fit this way of measuring. My rib measurement is 30, but a band of 34 is too big. So I wear a 32 comfortably. Womens sizes are not consistent with actual measurements.
Oh…and the article said the measurements were taken from a Mad Men dress. She would be wearing 60′s style underwear such as a girdle, pointy bra,etc. So it’s not really reflective on her ‘true’ measurements.
I am 5’4” – not sure of weight, given up wieghing becasue it’s depressing! I am 42 (34 G/GG) – 31ish – 42, I wish I could wittle down though. CH is so smooth!
The way to measure for a bra – the band size is measured underneath the arms – not underneath the breasts (ribcage). Then the widest part of the breast are measured. Compare the 1st measurement to the 2nd measurement. Every inch difference equals one cup size. Also, the underwires should be flat in the center of the chest between the breasts and the should end in the midpoint of the underarm. For proper fitting the straps should have about 1″ of give – measure by slipping your fingers under the strap at your shoulder (straps are not meant to hold up the breasts, the work is done by the rest of the bra.) Always buy a bra that you hook on the last (outermost) hooks so as the bra is worn and ages and stretches you can keep using your bra by simply moving on to using the next hook in from the outer edge.
I’m going to take a guess that her cup size is M based on someone I know with similar shaped breasts. As far as the band size only Christina really knows.
I wear a 34 DDDD/G/F depending on the manufacturer and Christina’s breast looks at least twice as large.
i dont think she is pretty at all, and i can prove this because every ones comments are about her chest size, there is a lot more to ones beauty, i hear nothing about face, legs, or any other part of her
There is no way that Christina Hendricks weighs 154 lbs. I would say she is closer to 170 lbs. I think she is beautiful no matter what. I would like to see what she looks like in a swimsuit.

I tend to wear a size 4/6 pant, and size 6 in dress or top.
I wear a 32ddd bra. *far* too many women wear bra sizes too big in the band and small in the cup. Atleast in the photo CH reminds me of my post-childbirth pics where I hit 36J+ size and hovered in the 34H/G range for quite some time. I’d hazard to guess she’s a 34G and probably more like 170-180lbs.
The bandsize + 1 for each letter cup ends up being pretty untrue once you hit larger size IMHO – as my chest measurement hasn’t always jived.
Either way – wonderful to see so many folks admire a curvy girl vs stickfigure women who dominate the industry!
